Job Description
Summary: The primary purpose of this job position is to prepare food in accordance with current applicable federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations, with our established policies and procedures, and as may be directed by the Chef to assure that quality food service is provided at all times. This position is responsible for hot food preparation, including accompaniment and garnishes.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist Chef in preparing meals.
Prepares hot entrees, soups and vegetables following preparation sheets and provided recipes for dining room service, healthcare center, cafeteria and special functions.
Does advance preparation as indicated.
Serves eye-appealing, tasty food items following recipes provided for preparation and plate service of food.
Completes food temperature checks each meal. Tastes all food items prepared.
Completes preparation records and stores food items properly at close of meal service.
Cleans work area and equipment used in food preparation.
Comprehensive knowledge of food preparation and handling technique.
Adhere to all state and local requirements regarding food preparation safety and other laws.
Meet with the Chef on a regular basis to discuss the service and improve as appropriate.
Clear dishes after the meal, rinse them and place them in the dishwasher.
Sweep and mop floors at the end of the evening and remove trash to dumpster.
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
High School education
Prior cooking experience in food service preferred
Must be a minimum of eighteen (18) years of age
Previous management/team leader experience preferred
