Job Description

Project Leaders will lead the planning and design process for Greenpeace campaign projects; build and task manage their multidisciplinary project teams and ensure close coordination with other Project Leaders, and the global organization, as appropriate.

Project Leaders will need to be able to balance strong listening skills with a decisive and efficient approach to delivery ambitious campaign projects. They will set and deliver specific and ambitious objectives, including supporter engagement objectives, and task manage a multidisciplinary team to inspire and generate creative, innovative and risk-taking output to deliver on them. They will need to create a supportive and trusting environment within their team that encourages collaboration, honest feedback and high levels of ambition.

Project Leaders will be adept at responding to real world events and opportunities that affect their objectives, while not losing track of long-term strategy. They will develop their projects with an eye toward public engagement at all levels (online, offline, fundraising, etc.) looking to empower people and reach diverse audiences. They are strategic advisors to the Program Director and Projects Director.

Responsibilities:

Develop strategy and work plan for ambitious, high impact, and well-researched campaign projects that use the power of people and has the courage to confront politicians and corporations;
Maintain clear and sustainable timelines, clear roles and responsibilities (through a DARCI chart) and a strong and positive team culture
Ensure the project̢۪s strategy supports Greenpeace̢۪s long-term organizational and campaign goals;
Task manage a team of staff (up to 12)as agreed with Program Leadership
Line manage 1-4 people including staff development and performance reviews
Hire new project staff
Take final decisions on all project output, except in specific instances where decisions related to organizational risk will be escalated
Identify, delegate and task manage project team members to develop and implement key pieces of work;
Develop and maintain positive relationships with Greenpeace colleagues around the world and external stakeholders in relation to your project and ensure the wider org retains and benefits from them;
Proactively communicate successes and learnings to the entire national and global organization
Work with the Development Department to maintain and expand Greenpeace̢۪s relationship with donors;
Manage a significant project budget, ensuring all necessary monitoring, evaluation and reporting expectations are met;
Perform other job-related duties as required and assigned by Projects Director and Senior Management
