Challenge Manufacturing Company is a leading Tier 1 automotive supplier of welded assemblies and engineered metal formed products to the global automotive industry. Headquartered in Walker, Michigan, Challenge operates manufacturing facilities across North America.
We have immediate openings for Tool Room/ Machinists in Kansas City, MO (All shifts available). These are full-time, direct hire positions with a complete benefits package, including health/prescription/dental coverage, short-term disability, LTD option, life insurance, and 401(k).
SUMMARY:
Set up and operate machine tools, too repair dies, cutting tools, jigs, fixtures, gauges. Observes and complies with all applicable environmental, safety & health regulations. Follow 5S, and ensure work area is organized and free of clutter.
EDUCATION/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
â€Â¢ Prefer High School diploma
â€Â¢ Operator permit issued by Challenge Manufacturing
QUALIFICATIONS:
â€Â¢ Must be able to maintain a good attendance record
â€Â¢ Minimum 1 year experience operating conventional machine tools or related experience
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. The company requires all employees to wear hearing protection, and other required Personal Protection Equipment while in the Press Department.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
â€Â¢ Sharpen, repair dies, jigs, gauges, and tools using machine and hand tools.
â€Â¢ Smooth and polish flat and contoured forms or draw tools using scrapers, emery cloths or power grinders.
â€Â¢ Wash, inspect and put dies in correct locations.
â€Â¢ Set up and operate conventional machine tools such as lathes, milling machines and grinders to cut, bore, grind or shape parts to prescribed dimensions and finishes.
â€Â¢ Other duties as assigned.
